1000 watt solar panel kit (1KW) – off-grid application.

1000 watt solar panel kitA 1000 watt solar panel kit with the right inverter and battery bank can take your cottage off-grid. Solar power systems are still quite expensive when you compare them with the grid-supplied power. In my opinion, though, they are cheaper than generators for off-grid applications.

Why 1000 watt solar panel?

You do not need a 1000 watt solar panel kit to start your journey off-grid. But you will be off to a very good start if you start from here. A 1000 watt solar panel kit will provide a lot of power to recharge your batteries during the day fast enough to use it again at night.

What can a 1000 watt solar panel kit do?

Most solar panel kit are 24 volts systems. You can have a 1000 watt solar panel system that is a 12 volt system. The downside of a 12 volt system is that, you will be drawing more current from your batteries and as such you will loose more power to heating of your battery cables.

A 1000 watt solar panel system does not mean that all you can power is your house is 1000 watts. The 1000 watt rating only refers to the amount of power that will be returned to your battery bank from the sun light.

A 1000 watt solar panel system will deliver 1000 watts to your batteries every hour that the sun is directly over the panels. We all know that the sun will not always be over head. So depending on your location and time of the year, you may get an average of 5 – 12 hours of sunlight daily.

This means that your 1000 watt solar panel kit can theoretically deliver 5,000 t0 12,000 watts of power to your battery bank. In practice however, you may estimate for 50-70% of that. This is because the sun is only directly over your panels for about 1 hour of the day. At other times it is at an angle and your panels will not deliver the full 1000 watts.

Examples of 1000 watt solar panel installations.

Components

These are not the exact components used in this video. These are the components you will need to build yours.

Cables and wood work will cost extra. At least you can work with these and get a good estimate. The 1000 watt kit from Eco-Worthy comes with the solar charge controller. You may also choose to build your own kit. It may be a little more expensive, but you will have more control.

Components needed to build a similar System. This is if you want to build your own solar power kit.

This system runs a 6000 BTU window air conditioner, washing machine and other electronics for 10hrs daily.

Here are some 1000 watt solar panel kits.

HQST Solar Panel Review – 100 watt Monocrystalline and more

HQST solar panel review

I installed a 200 watt solar panel in my home in May 2016. Since then I have been researching solar panels. I think I am becoming a solar energy enthusiast to say the least. This is an HQST Solar Panel Review. I believe that solar energy is the way to go when it comes to being energy efficient. After installing my first Solar Panel and reading a few solar panel reviews, there are a few things that I look for. I believe anyone who is interested in buying a solar panel and is not a solar panel “expert” will benefit from this review of the HQST 100W Monocrystalline Solar Panel and other Solar panels.

How much Power?

Hqst solar panel plateThe 100 Watt rating on the solar panel refers to the peak power that the panels can out put when placed under direct sunlight. It is the ideal case. In reality you will not get this peak power all through the day. If you have direct sunlight for 5 hours, then the solar panels will ideally output 500 Wh of power.

This means you can use the solar panels to ideally supply 500 Watt hour of power to your battery or to any direct current load that may be connected to the panels. In my own case I bought my solar panels to charge my 200Ah battery.  It is more realistic to assume that the panels will only supply 80% of the max power rating even when you have an almost ideal situation. If however there is some shade, some cloud or your placement does not allow for adequate sunlight to your panels the amount of power outputted will be affected.

Solar technology has advanced greatly such that you can easily find a solar panel in just the right size to suit your electrical/electronic needs. Purchasing 100 Watt solar panel is a great choice if you merely want a small solar PV system for your home or your RV. This HQST Solar Panel Review will give you an insight on the HQST 100 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel; its features, pros, and cons including a list of other quality HQST solar panels.

The HQST Panel is the most cost effective. It had the lowest price although it has exactly the same specs as the Renogy Panel. In my opinion, these panels have the same source. They are just being marketed by different companies. If you choose to buy from HQST, you will be getting the exact same panel as Renogy. However since they are not the same company, the experience would not be the same.

Conclusion

The HQST company seems to have discovered the manufacturers of the Renogy Panels. They purchase the same panels and sell them for less. This is my guess. I may be wrong. If you like the Renogy, you may as well go for the HQST but be ready to deal with the “smaller” company. From my research, there has been no major complaint about the customer service of HQST. Renogy on the other hand has been around for a while and so they have a name to protect.

Eco Worthy and WindyNation are also in the market to make some profit. If you like them go for them. My suggestion is this. I find the Renogy Solar Panels quite good and as such I would buy from them or HQST.  When buying a lot of pieces, the different in prices add up. So the verdict is in. Buy the HQST 100 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panels if you are willing to support the newer company or Go for Renogy 100 Watt monocrystalline Solar Panels if you are looking for a trusted brand.

I think I would save the $20- $30 plus on each panel. Just Saying!!!
